Welcome to IEWF and RNC Alliance - Pacific website.
Restoring degraded ecosystems.

Last updated January 2009 - see below for free environmental presentation for primary schools, also see Web Weed Lookup, News & useful Links.

All donations made in Australia are tax deductible as we are a registered environmental organisation, see
Register of Environmental Organisations
. We are also signatories to the ACFID Code of Conduct.

For quick and easy identification of common garden weeds, potentially invasive plants and environmental weeds go to Web Weed Lookup. Also find out more about what weeds are, how they are spread and how to control them.

To find that hidden native garden in your own backyard visit Know your garden's natives website.

NEW - free Restoring Natural Capital environmental PowerPoint presentation for Australian primary schools.

This colourful and interesting PowerPoint presentation (including script) covers many facets of the current primary curriculum. It explains what is natural capital, how we are losing our natural capital and gives many simple examples of what can be done to improve our local environment. It also talks about the importance of native habitat and encourages the creation of a habitat area in your school grounds to link into a habitat network. To get a copy of this presentation simply email info@iewf.org. We can either send you a link from which to download the presentation or we can mail it to your school at no charge. Please provide the name of your school and location.

Free Restoring Natural Capital (RNC) and RNC Habitat Workshops

Would you like to:

- learn about natural capital, why it's important, how we lose our natural capital and what can be done to reverse this trend?
- improve the function of your local landscape in urban, agricultural and natural areas?
- improve the health of your soils, water and air?
- find out about leaky ecosystems and how to repair the leak?
- help create or extend a native habitat network in your local area?
- enhance your local community and local amenity?
- provide opportunities for youth groups to be involved in positive programs?

Then consider organising a free community Restoring Natural Capital Workshop for your area.
These workshops are being run throughout Australia. In May 2008 we also helped run workshops and lectured in Ecuador. We have distributed copies for use by communities in Ecuador, Asia, Africa, Europe and the USA. The workshop is currently available in English and Spanish. If you are interested in having these workshops run in your community (here in Australia or overseas) please contact us. We can modify these workshops to help launch local restoration projects. For more information send us an email to info@iewf.org.

Groups of around 20 are recommended however we are very flexible.

These workshops equally apply to:
- city and country,
- urban, agricultural and natural areas, and
- developed and developing countries.

In May 2008 we won an Envirofund Round 9 grant from the Australian Government which will extend this program and allow us to do related on-ground projects in Ryde and Hunter's Hill in NSW. Our grant project is entitled "Restoring Natural Capital for Community and Landscape Level Benefits". See our News page for more information.

We can also run introductory RNC presentations for exisiting community groups or for businesses which run for about 1 hour. Ask your local council to arrange a presentation for you and your neighbours.

Also following the full day RNC Workshop we can run half day project workshops aimed at completing the planning for the initial project.

To learn a bit about us please continue .....

International Environmental Weed Foundation (IEWF) was registered in July 2003 and is based in Sydney Australia.

Our mission is to work with people to help them learn more about healthy landscapes in relation to the vegetation, soils, water, air, production and social systems.

We support and facilitate projects relating to conservation, biodiversity and the restoration of degraded ecosystems and we provide funding (subject to approval) for small community projects and related environmental research and education projects. For more information contact us at info@iewf.org

Our Web Weed Lookup and Know Your Garden's Natives projects help people discover what may be found in their own backyard and surrounding areas. They provide excellent resources for schools and can be used by schools within their environmental programs.

All of our projects are growing through community involvement. If you want to be involved, use our resources or host an RNC Workshop email us at info@iewf.org.

We are the co-ordinator of the RNC Alliance in the Pacific. The RNC Alliance is a world-wide network of volunteers (scientists, practitioners, land managers, NGOs, government bodies and other interested parties) working together to restore natural capital (RNC). By working with communities we help to identify the issues within the overall landscape and help identify simple and inexpensive solutions to improve the landscape function for the benefit of the people, their production systems and the natural environment.

Our conservation project, part of a habitat link being created from Hat Head National Park to LimeBurners Creek Nature Reserve "For Rest" is an example of our active dedication to the preservation of our natural capital (environment).

Help us by making a donation or buying a photo. You can visit MacroNature Sponsors Store where you can buy interesting nature digital photos or make a donation from the MacroNature donations page using your Visa or Mastercard. If you prefer to send us a donation by cheque please visit our donations page on this site.

If you want weed photos you can copy from this site if you ask us first - please email.

We also include links to other sites who are working on similar projects. If you would like your site included please contact IEWF at info@iewf.org.
